VLC (VideoLan), one of the most popular media players is coming to Windows Phone OS. We had rumors on VLC working on an app for Windows Phone before and it is now confirmed by the VLC team. Last day we contacted VLC team regarding the development of the app. Felix Paul Kühne, lead developer at VLC confirmed that they are working on it.
You can read the conversation below:
According to him they are working on the app and we can expect the app sometime this year. At the moment, however, they are still working on the Windows 8 RT flavor of the app, and the focus will move to the Windows Phone flavor of the software shortly, it seems.
This is great news for Windows Phone users as the platform is still lacking 3rd party media players. This will also enable users to play more media formats on their phone. We are expecting the app to be available by the end of the year. So wait for the app and stay tuned!
More to come!
